October CMS is a content management system built on the Laravel Framework. It's been in development since 2013 and is definitely part of a new generation of PHP of content management tools.

  • NoSQL MongoDB backend allows high performance
  • Clean admin UI with drag & drop layout management
Main disvantages

  • Built in AJAX framework might make decoupling difficult
  • Site layout management features limited
  • Fairly unknown and not widely adopted
  • Quite dependent on the efforts of a single company
  • Documentation not the best (REST API, for example)
