Product intro

Open Orchestra is an Open Source CMS built on the full stack framework. For database it uses a MongoDB, a NoSQL store rather than the more typical Relational Databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.

Kunstmaan Agency has created a number of Symfony2 Framework Bundles to enable developers to create web applications with CMS features. It's not a complete product in itself, but offers flexibility for skilled developers to create easy to use site experiences for content creators.

Main advantages
  • Full Stack Symfony implementation with focus on code quality
  • NoSQL MongoDB backend allows high performance
  • Clean admin UI with drag & drop layout management
  • Flexible, choose only what you need and adjust to your needs
  • Uses standard Symfony Framework structure and development practises
  • Can be integrated into existing Symfony2 applications
Main disvantages
  • Fairly unknown and not widely adopted
  • Quite dependent on the efforts of a single company
  • Documentation not the best (REST API, for example)
  • Limited adoption outside of Kunstmaan
  • A bit hard to purchase, because it's a collection of components rather than a complete product
  • Future roadmap a questionmark
