Product intro

Open Orchestra is an Open Source CMS built on the full stack framework. For database it uses a MongoDB, a NoSQL store rather than the more typical Relational Databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.

Reservoir is a Drupal 8 distribution focused on decoupled content management. It is developed by Acquia, the company providing enterprise grade Drupal hosting and solutions.

Main advantages
  • Full Stack Symfony implementation with focus on code quality
  • NoSQL MongoDB backend allows high performance
  • Clean admin UI with drag & drop layout management
  • Open Source CaaS option
  • Corporate backing from Acquia
  • Flexibility and extensibility
Main disvantages
  • Fairly unknown and not widely adopted
  • Quite dependent on the efforts of a single company
  • Documentation not the best (REST API, for example)
  • A young, unproven product
  • Complexity of hosting (compared to pure CaaS)
  • Unable to leverage full Drupal ecosystem
